Newsgroup disruptor Jesus Monroy is really John L. Sokol ?

this was from groups.google.com who I can no long share a link too, because it only goes to a blank search page an not content.

Newsgroup disruptor Jesus Monroy is really John L. Sokol ?
4/11/99censor...@my-dejanews.com
I was interested to note the reappearance of Jesus Monroy on
bsd-related newsgroups recently (starting around March 24).
I remembered his unique style of disrupting the flow of
newgroup conversation, starting around 1993 if I remember
correctly, with meta-discussions, bad spelling, inanities
regarding sex, incorrect technical information and other
classic newsgroup disruptor behavior.  I notice from his
content and volume of posting since he has reappeared that
nothing has changed.A search of Usenet archives revealed something interesting,
however.  Searching for postings by jmo...@netcom.com, his
old address, gave three postings made between 1995 and 1997
(the archives didn't reach back to 1993).  Two of these
postings were not signed "Jesus Monroy", but rather "John L.
Sokol" or some variation thereof (addresses given were
so...@reyes.stanford.edu and so...@escape.com).  The
postings and a finger of so...@reyes.stanford.edu are
attached.  I note the connection to the East Coast implied
by the 201 area code number in the finger output.
"Jesus Monroy" might translate as "Jesus my King".  We now
have the opportunity to build a profile of our poster, if
indeed he is John L. Sokol.
- the name might be a jab at the religious inclinations of
some of the (best members of) the BSD community, i.e.
the religiousity with which positions are pursued in the
  Unix community
- based on this and the Stanford angle, we might infer that
John/Jesus is of a mindset group which occurs occasionally
in the top of the academic community, which worships the
hard rationalist, scientific atheist mindset prevalent
in western science before the 1960's and has contempt
for right-brain, wholistic approaches to reality.  These
are essentially conservative people, who fall on (and
frequently fail in) the "reality" (in a limited western
sense) end of the "reality"-imagination duality.  The
underlying duality here is between a differentiating
approach to existence represented by this scientific
subcommunity, and an integrating one, represented in
this instance by the Unix community.
- the connection to the (again conservative) corridors of
high academe and the inclination towards materialism
implied by the content of the postings (trolling for
women (were you with Ann, John, when you posted that one?
(see posting 2)) , trolling for real estate customers who
will "take their customers on the patio for lattes",
trolling for customers for a porn site) might reflect
another aspect of an opposition to the ethereal and
  not-in-touch-with-"Reality" (yes, the Connected
conservative kind) orientations of much of the Unix
  community.
All very interesting.  Of course, this is irrelevant if
the linkage between John L. Sokol and "Jesus Monroy" does
not exist.  (The possibility must of course also be
considered that both names are fictitious.)
But if it does, it would be interesting to know who
John L. Sokol is, and any other interesting linkages which
might turn up.  For example, was there some connection
between the Jolitzes and Stanford ?  I frankly don't give a
damn why John/Jesus feels the need to disrupt BSD
newsgroups, but I think more information on him would be
very enlightening.  And what, John/Jesus, made you suddenly
reemerge now, at the end of March 1999 ?  Outside of the
airstrikes on Kosovo, nothing exceptional is going on right
now, either in the *nix space or in the world at large.
Was it postings on Kosovo ?  What was it that drove you to
post again ?

I am looking for hispanic or asian or indian women to meet
for friendship and if there chemistry then maybe more.
Ulimitly I want to find a wife, But I know that not going to
be an easy task. I have very unusual taste in women and I
very seldom run into the type of women that I find really
attractive.
About me I am a 27 Year old white male(professional computer
programmer) 6 Feet 2 inches tall 230 Lbs, pritty good shape,
but I'm working to improve it even more. Dark brown hair and
hazel eyes.
I'm not expecting much and I'm not some kind of creep, I
just am not into the type of woman that I guess people
expect me to be into, So it's rare when I get
to meet a woman that really takes my breath away.
I have had only 5 girlfriends in my past 2 spanish and 1 asian
and I still love them very much , Thing just didn't work out
and I with that they did, but It's been a while now and
before I consider something out of desperation like a mail
order bride I'd like to meet some real down to earth people.

Try taking some of it.
Oh, by the way, I notice from your posting history that:
- you think Linux should stay in the back office
- don't like geeks (do they make you feel inadequate ?)
- have only been posting under this account since about April 5.
Let's look at one of your other articles, in rec.blabla.audio,
replying to someone's query about how to wire a PA system:

You ignore the rather startling facts I posted.  You were maybe not
around on Usenet in these groups around 1993 when we had the first
coming of Jesus (Monroy...) ?  I suspect that if Jesus Monroy does not
really exist, then it might be interesting who is posting as him.
Simple inferences are not necessarily immediately conspiracy-theory
ramblings (it may take a little while, depending on what other
information surfaces).
I found the content I posted (jmo...@netcom.com being used to post
articles signed by and requesting contact for one John L. Sokol)
using one of the standard usenet archives, you can too.  This content
raises the following three interesting possibilities:
1. Jesus (Monroy) exists, and used jmo...@netcom.com to scam
  John L. Sokol
2. jmo...@netcom.com is an account actually used by John L. Sokol,
Jesus Monroy does not exist, and John L. Sokol
(so...@reyes.stanford.edu) is the poster who poses as Jesus
Monroy, and spent months in 1993 and again now jamming BSD
newsgroups with irrelevant blocking chatter in an attempt to disrupt
  discussion.
3. someone forged headers, and the posts I found were originated
neither by John L. Sokol or Jesus Monroy.
Put succinctly, you are either lying when you say you've met Jesus
Monroy (and he doesn't actually exist), or jmo...@netcom.com was
used by someone (Jesus or a third party) to post articles under the
name John L. Sokol.  If this doesn't pique your interest, then you
either haven't spent enough time on Usenet, or need to slide a little
in the "imagination" direction of the reality-imagination duality.
Oh and by the way, the high halls of academe, or at least Big Science,
are mighty conservative, trust me.  Both from their rationalist-
modernist ancestry, and because they get too much money from DOD,
DOE and other federal three-letter agencies (e.g. NSA) not to be.
And please don't say this is X-filish babble; if you haven't been
there, take my word for it.

Hello censorsblome,    I can assure you that I am indeed a real person. I even have a home
page and everything. A simple search on altavista or whois and I show up
all over the place.  It should be no big mystery.  It is a bit
frightening how far back my misc. post have lasted, but It seems all the
important posts about the release of a Public Domain Unix and it's
insueing flame war was left out. As well as much of my other
informational in software release postings!  I also do not read or
participate these news groups regularly and for the most part feel these
things are a totally waste of time. Along with IRC.
I can also assure you that I am not Jesse Monroy, nor do I take any
responsibility or liability for what he does or his opinions.   Although
I have know him for over 10 Years.   And he seldom does drugs.  He's
just incredible pain in the ASCII.   Yikes, please don't mistake me for
him.
After I assisted Bill Jolitz in releasing 386/BSD and realizing how
quickly revisionist history Kicks in and How badly Bill and everyone
involved was treated.   I had come within an inch of loosing my Job at
Stanford at the time because I actually arranged the
release/distribution of the first BSD on Intel Unix ever! Not to mention
death threats and other forms of harassment.
Don't ask me how I could have received 40 Megs of Flames for giving
free software away with Source Code!

I'd also like to mention here how all of the (Free, Net, Open) BSD 's
hardly acknowledge Bill contribution if at all, I am appalled and
ashamed.  None of them would exist with out His efforts and the efforts
of the many others who contributed to 386BSD, Defying the temptations of
Money (BSDI) and dangers of (AT&T) power! We risked it all for this.
If BSDI, the Berkley University team and AT&T had there way there would
just be another SCO or MicroPort. No Source and a $1000+ a copy broken
Intel Unix , probably still with 64K segmentation!
I'm sorry but I never want anything to do with a bunch of ungrateful
flamers again for the rest of my LIFE!  All of my work and contributions
are now done in Secret and indirectly because of this type of stupidity.
This is why Linux is winning!
I also would appreciate if you would never mention or post anything on
the net containing my Name again!

Especially in any of your twisted conspiracy theories. If you knew what
was really going on you'd hide under a rock too.

You obviously prefer your conspiracy theories to life, or you

My, my... How about this: some guy asks Jesus if he can post
something for him becuase he doesn't have a private access to the
net.  Well, that would be so unromantic, I guess.  No mysteries,
no investigations.  Just can't be, huh?

Well, first of all, I don't even know who the hell you are, so how
can I take your word for anything.  I suppose one of those
"three-letter agencies" must be after you, so you have to maintain
your anonymity.  Well, have fun living in your world.  I gotta
get back to reality now.

No, judging from hundreds of postings in less than two weeks asking
important questions like whether other posters are fags, making tart
ripostes (right) to other poster's comments, and posting impertent
docmunetatin about how the 'freebsd...@my-dejanews.com' FAQ is
produced (ooooh, you edit it by hand), you're the same asswipe you
always were.
You're too disruptive and persistent in terms of bandwidth waste to be
simple wannabe.
Therefore, you are a troll.
If you are a harmless troll practising your stupidity, shut up,
bunghole.
If you are a malicious troll, with ill purpose for Unix or the *nix
or Usenet community, then you are currently bending over.  Lube up.

Mostly, because I stop paying netcom.com, but the did not

Simple, He had a Netcom account rigged by one of the founders
so we'd never have to pay a bill. Worked for almost 10 Years!
Also at the time of the postings, Getting a Good News server
in Los Angeles was next to impossible so I just borrowed his
account since I don't think he even knew the password for it.

I can't speak for {Open,Net}BSD, and I never speak officially for FreeBSD,
BUT:
In every history page that is on the FreeBSD site, Bill Jolitz is
prominently displayed and thanked along with others who worked on the
patchkit.
If you feel there is historical error, I'd invite you mail me or the
webmaster privatly and we'll be sure to make the corrections.
Also, http://www.FreeBSD.org/send-pr.html is always a way to queue up a
complataint / suggestion, and I'm sure the other BSDs have appropriate
hooks for that too.
Thanks,
